MY FAVOURITE NURSING FRIENDLY TOPS & DRESSES

Before giving birth I never thought I would spend so much time thinking about which clothes I would be able to nurse in. It wasn’t until after I brought Everleigh home that I realized how essential it is to have a good stock of nursing friendly pieces in your wardrobe.

This is hands down my most worn top the past few months. It’s so comfortable, it’s cozy enough for the cool weather without being too heavy for the warm spring afternoons and it’s so easy to nurse in. I love that it can be worn knotted or undone, which makes it a great length for a growing bump, so you can wear it through pregnancy and after. I have this in two colours and will likely buy a couple more the next time they go on sale. I wear a medium in this one (TTS)

Amazon and target also has a versions of this top that I have heard good things about, you can find those here:

I also have this version of the button front top that I am in love with! The material on this one is super soft and a bit more stretchy than the waffle knit top above. This company sells out of products quickly but they do re-stocks quite often which you can sign up for when you find a product that is sold out in your size. I wear a medium in this one (TTS)

This snap front bodysuit has been another staple since giving birth (I want to cry looking at this photo because she was SO little and this wasn’t all that long ago, time is a thief y’all!). I love the fit of this, it’s got a good stretch to it and is so easy to nurse in thanks to the snaps. I also just love a good basic white tee so I know this will get some miles even once I’m done nursing. Size up one for this one, I am wearing a large.

I bought the navy version of this top last year and it was the first thing I wore when I got home from the hospital (then again and again) so when I saw that they brought it back in more colour ways I grabbed another. The material on this one feels a little more like linen so I know it will take me through the hot summer months. It’s currently on sale for 60% off! making it only $26.50, it comes in white, navy gingham, and this cornflower blue. I wear a small in this one, which is usually what I wear at J.Crew.

While we’re still on tops, and seemingly I am organizing this by sleeve length, this top from Abercrombie has been another favourite. I think the last time I shopped at Abercrombie was in high school, but this year they are doing all the right things! My sister-in-law, who is not nursing, and I bought got this top (it comes in a handful of colours) and we both love it! I wear a medium in this one (TTS)
There are quite a few other tops that I wear to nurse and love but haven’t grabbed a photo of. I think the three types of tops that work best are either button front, wrap or oversized. Below are all of my favourite tops:

Onto dresses!
Again, wrap front or buttons are key for making dresses nursing friendly. I have some friends who would also say an oversized dress is an option with shorts under it but I don’t feel like I am coordinated enough to get Everleigh under my dress to nurse her without some kind of mishap.

This flows maxi dress has a wrap and hook and eye to close the top which makes it perfect for nursing. I just unhook the clasp and loosen the top string a bit and we’re good to go! Size up one for this dress, I am wearing a large and it is the perfect fit.

This is another wrap front option that comes in a four colours and is under $50! I feel like this photo just doesn’t do it justice, it’s SO good. I wear a medium in this one (TTS)

This has to be one of my favourite dresses I have ever owned! The fit is so flattering, the floral print is darling and it buttons all the way making it very nursing friendly. It comes in this print or a red option that is equally as beautiful. I wear a medium in this one (TTS)

Another button front dress, except this one has pockets! I wore this for Mother’s Day (my first!) and nursed Everleigh three times while we were visiting my sister-in-law. I had to lose the belt but the cardigan and dress were perfect. I am wearing a size 6, my true size, in this one. This is currently on sale for $61! – If you live near an outlet you can get it in store for an extra 50% off the sale price (I hate that they don’t do the same sale online!)

The last one I have a photo of is this button front beauty, also from J.Crew Factory. This comes in three colours and has the cutest little cap sleeves and eyelet detailing. It runs big so size down, I am wearing an extra small in this one. This is currently on sale for $61! I didn’t see it in the sale section when I was in store last week but it would be worth checking since they usually do an extra 40-60% off clearance.

I have more nursing friendly items to shoot soon, but you can shop them now with the links below. I will save all my nursing friendly favourites and keep them updated under the shop tab on my home page.
