OUR GREATEST ADVENTURE

WE’RE PREGNANT! When we were on the flight back from from Greece I could tell something was different. I had a sneaking suspicion that maybe, just maybe, I might be pregnant.

When we got married we both agreed we wanted to do some traveling before kids and Europe was the last pre-kids trip on our list. We thought we would start trying once we got home, but the morning after we got home we found out were already pregnant. I happened to have a pregnancy test at home and took it first thing when I woke up, when the second line turned faintly pink I was in a bit of shock. I was too excited to wait to tell Josh so as soon as I found him in the kitchen I started crying and told him we’re pregnant! We were both a bit in shock and wanted to be certain, so two more at home tests, a test at the doctors, and blood work finally confirmed that little pink line – they were all positive, but I think Josh was still in so much shock he had a hard time believing it. Now at 18 weeks pregnant, and a few ultrasounds later, we’re quite sure about the little life growing in there.

During the first trimester I was so excited, and incredibly nervous, to tell anyone. I was also EXHAUSTED! Everyone always talks about the nausea/”morning” sickness that women experience during the first trimester but I was SO not prepared for the level of exhaustion I would feel. Also “morning” sickness is a load of crap! Everyone I know who has gone through it can tell you that the nausea is not just in the morning. For me it was every two hours throughout the day. That coupled with the exhaustion had me laid out on the couch by 7:00 pm every night. For those of you who are going through it, know that it ends. Around week 11 I started to feel a heck of a lot better and have been cruising through this second trimester so far.

I feel like I am already getting into the nesting phase now that we know what we are having. We opted to go get a gender specific ultrasound and found out we will be welcoming a sweet baby girl. Being a lover of fashion I have already started outfitting her closet, with the help of my mom. We can’t be trusted in Baby Gap anymore.
See what’s in her closet:

We have also started working on her nursery and can’t wait to see it all come together! I know it’s early to get all of that done now but I figured we might as well do it now while I am feeling energetic. I am also the kind of person who plans things way in advance – I plan events for a living so planning out things years or months in advance is totally normal for me – so it just feels right now get it all done now. I can’t wait to share her nursery with you once it’s all complete.
